- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder

- 1 cup buttermilk

- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
- Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before removing and transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
