  • 5 pounds of apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar


  1. Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, and salt to a slow cooker.
  2. Toss to combine and then allow the mixture to sit for 1 hour.
  3. After 1 hour, add the apple cider vinegar to the slow cooker and stir to combine.
  4. Cook on low for 5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture has thickened and the apples have broken down.
  5. Use a handheld immersion blender to puree the mixture until it is smooth and silky.
  6. Transfer the apple butter to jars and allow it to cool before serving.
