Instructions:

  1. Peel and slice onions into rings, separating each ring.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
  4. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then the buttermilk mixture, and then the bread crumbs, making sure to coat well.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer until it reaches 375°F.
  6. Carefully place a few onion rings at a time in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
